It goes without saying that it is good form to respect social practices and norms when in a country that’s not your own. “Do as the Romans Do”, as some might say. Certainly there is no need to give up your own individuality, identity or ideology, but it would definitely be appreciated by locals hosts, if we made an effort to take an interest in local customs, beliefs or practices.
